ince inception about a year ago, I am proud to report that the Ajoke Ayisat Afolabi Foundation have supported more than 100 students from different parts of the country through offer of scholarships, payment of school fees, production and distribution of stationeries, supply of uniforms, school sandals, bags, etc. At the same time, we have been able to provide incredible strong support for needy orphans.
The above is in compliance with our mission of reaching out to needy children and our promise to support each deserving child and needy widows.
I am particularly grateful to God who has made it possible, through the Foundation, for us to be able to extend the hand of love to these less priviledged children and widows.
I wish to use this opportunity to thank our friends who have graciously supported us in this mission. We pray that God Almighty will continue to replenish your pockets many folds.
In the meantime, whilst we appreciate the current economic meltdown prevailing in the country, it is my sincere hope that you will continue to support our charity projects in the coming years. As usual, any support you give will be immediately appreciated.
Once again, on behalf of the Board of Trustees of AAAF, please accept my very best wishes for year 2010.

APPY New Year, wishing everybody a prosperous 2009 ahead. If there was one thing everybody seemed to agree on in the early year, it was on how to make our nation stop its crisis. These crisis range from poverty, diseases, neglect of female education, female gender inequality, etc. |
I am highly delighted in this New Year which, by God’s grace, is going to be unique in the life of many less-privileged citizens as God will double their celebrations and meet them at the point of their needs. (Amen).
While giving thanks for the little we were able to contribute in the last year, we were able to embark on some programmes. In April 2008 to the glory of God, our Foundation was able to celebrate the first ever Easter break with Foundation mothers with the mothers representative from SOS, Mrs. Clara Kuboye in attention. Her lecture was on ways of growing motherly love in the family . unlike other events, the A.A.A. Foundation has lots of time for children, especially focused on the orphans and the needy children. In response to the growing need of these children, we inaugurated a campaign every children’s day, i.e May 27th of every year, for kids of the future. The A.A.A.F first outing campaign on May 27th 2008 came out so successfully with about 120 children coming out to support the occasion dedicated to orphans.
As part of caring and loving, A.A.A.F have successfully paid school fees for many less-privileged children, given hope for many poor widows and sponsoring lot of hospital bills for the needy and sick body in the society.
The word “GIVING” means much to our Founder/Patron, Dr. Taiwo Olayinke Afolabi, who since the establishment of the Foundation had continued, without looking back, to support courageously the finances of the Foundation thereby giving hope and help to sustain the needy and their journey in life. This has led the Foundation to the right path of helping the under-privileged citizens and the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) in our nation Nigeria and Internationally. Thank you sir for your support.
Also through the grace and help of supporting members who are appreciative of the benefits of giving, i.e good health, quality education, safe home and good food for the needy families, we herby confirm receipt of their generous donations. I am asking you to keep it up and reflect more on the millions of families in Nigeria who have lots of problems to solve. We are thanking you. God bless you all. Growth and development of A.A.A. Foundation continues gradually as we have in the meantune become a member of the Nigeria Network of NGO’s and the CSO Members of these organizations have given us the necessary exposure to know more about others NGOs who operate in other area of interest.
In our efforts look at what we call a charity home, one has to see to combine culture and development in the running of the foundation home. As culture could be seen as a way of life of a group or community, we have determined to create an “Holiday Adventure” every June/July of each year. The programme involves gathering orphans and poor children together in the home for about two or three weeks to eat, sleep,, and play to achieve the culture of each child. This programme was held in 2008 with the help of the foundation officers and members. The last “Holiday Adventure” in the home was excellent. We were able to visit the Elegbeda of Egbeda HRM Oba Samson Alade Balogun with the children and also had a nice time in the A.A.A. Foundation home for two weeks. What a wonderful experience.
As the 1st day of October each year marks Nigeria Independent Anniversary, we set for an open field programme dedicated to developing our communities e.g. hospitala. Environment and visitation etc. the aims and objectives of the A.A.A.F was conceived with a vision to raise a generation of poor children, youths and families that will stand out to see hard work as a secret of success through donors.
The vision to set up a football academy came to us as a non-format type of education for the male child who have no interest in going to school. We began to counsel many drop-out children who had turned to bus conductors, sellers of pure water along the highways and area boys. The degree of interest shown by the children was overwhelming. We now make extra efforts to correct their life towards football training every Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays which have positively contribute to the transformation of their skills in life. Towards the end of 2008, there was a collaboration between the SOS children villages Isolo and A.A.A.F to celebrate the Global Peace Games on their football pitch. This football match also coincide with the sent forth of the former SOS Director Prince Augustine Adetola, of which a Golden trophy was place down in honour of his name A.A.A. Foundation children football team won the trophy.
In my work for the rescue of the lost poor ones. I have met many remarkable people who have inspired me with their unflagging courage, will and generosity. One of such people is Prince A. Adetola, former Director of SOS, who is always willing to give advise to me any time we met. Also, I am proud and grateful to Barrister Ezekiel Ajewole, special Assistant to the Group Managing Director of Safax, who share in this work with me.
And just recently the Corporate & Media Africa Communications Ltd. Nominated our founder, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, for the 5th Meritorious Diamond Award for National Development (MEDA2008). I was in Abuja to receive this award on his behalf.
Finally, let me appreciate the Afolabi’s both oldand young, for their efforts. All of you contributed to the overall progress of A.A.A Foundation. I am saying put more investments and contributions to the work of God and humanity and the upliftment of the poor generation in the society. To this end, we at A.A.A.F will continue to strive to improve and achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s) and pray that the lord God Almighty will continue to sustain us (Amen).
Thank you

WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP TO FIGHT POVERTY
|
| O |
ne often repeated Hadith of Prophet Muhammed (SAW) by Alhaja Ajoke Ahishat Afolabi is “None of you really believes, except he wants for his brother what he wants for himself”. This often repeated admonition of Prophet Mohammed is similar to the first Commandment of God in the Bible that “Love your neighbours as you love yourself”. |
To say that the Nigerian economy is in a parlous sate is stating the obvious. And in the face of grueling poverty, decrepit infrastructure and government’s insensitivity to the plight of the less-privileged Nigerians. It behoves on you and I, philanthropists and corporate organizations invest in the education, health, well being and development of theses poor people in order to alleviate their plight.
The urgent need by well meaning persons to pull resources together in order to lessen the plight of widows, orphans, homeless people and particularly the ever increasing unemployed youth population cannot be overemphasized. According to official sources, about 80% of the nation’s youths are unemployed while about 10% are underemployed. No wonder then that the nation is constantly under siege. Armed robbery, touting, Prostitution, banditry, kidnapping for ransom and other crimes can be traced to frustration and despair of youths who could not get gainful employment.
Lack of care and attention for orphans, widows, street children, the teeming army of unemployed youths and other less-privileged people is no doubt a time bomb waiting to explode. To defuse this bomb, let us come together by donating and contributing part of our God’s given wealth to the development and employment of the have-nots. By doing this, we are not only heeding the injunction of God, we are also making the society a better place to be. Remember, most of these less-privileged persons have great potentials capable of transforming the society if well harnessed and developed.
